To quote a good friend from earlier this morning "drop whatever you are doing and get in the woods"! This is that one week a year that we can say the full rut is underway. All other trophy buck conversations begin with in early November or during the rut. We have had two great hunts the last week and both of them ended with bucks chasing does into our area. The Ohio bow season has once again been producing and now is the time to take advantage of the bucks in ability to think clearly!
The weather in NE Ohio has been really typical with lots of rain and high winds. This weather is fixing to change to colder and snow should replace the rain so the already pumped up mature bucks will be hitting yet another gear. The best time to be in a stand is anytime you have available even if it is just for a few hours. You never know when that next love sick buck will come strolling down your trail. They're going to be there even if you are not in the stand!
